Think Now is not a good time to buy... Think again

If you are thinking of relocating or buying that second home at the beach, what are you waiting for?

With mortgage rates at record lows, home prices seemingly tailor made for buyers and motivated sellers looking to close before winter creeps in, now is the perfect time to purchase your new home.

Why not hit the beach this fall and make your summer dreams come true!!!

See you at the beach,

Lee Ann

What Shoulder Season?

Summer always goes by too quickly for me. Fortunately, here at the Delaware beaches, fall is really a great time of year too because things slow down (Slightly - but not nearly as much as they used to!). The days are still warm, the evenings are cool, and the sound of jazz fills the air in October. The popular Rehoboth Autumn Jazz Festival will be celebrating their 19th year this October 15th through the 19th and the Sea Witch Festival (October 24-26th) lead us into election season - guaranteed to be a landmark event this year. History will be made with the presidential election no matter which way the ballots fall. One question I get frequently is: How, if at all, does the election influence our real estate market? Are people waiting to buy or sell until after the election? As far as I can tell, there is very little effect on the real estate market here at the beach. Perhaps we'll see more beach home purchases after the inauguration when a new administration looks around for weekend retreats in the "Nation's Summer Capitol"? Speaking of weekend retreats, we've often heard that our market is different because it’s largely one of second homes. There may be some truth to this assessment; however, as those of us who have been here for more than a few years can tell you, year-round residents have greatly increased. Retirees and those seeking a slower pace, a simpler lifestyle, or just a waterfront view are still relocating full-time to Lewes and surrounds. More and more, especially with new businesses, expansion of health care and service industries, our year-round neighbors and neighborhoods increase. We've had a busy summer, despite astronomical fuel costs. September has kicked off with a bang, despite the announcement of the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts. Everyone on my team is all still constantly showing homes. Granted, our buyers are all still looking for bargain basement prices, and wanting to see more houses before they make a decision...they are, nevertheless, still buying. Life goes on at the shore... - Lee Ann

Friday October 10- Monday October 13, 2008 - Greyhounds Reach the Beach

Greyhounds Reach the BeachFrom October 9th through 12th, thousands of greyhounds will visit Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the 14th annual “Greyhounds Reach the Beach” weekend.

For attendees — who come from all over the country and even abroad — the weekend is equal parts education, networking, socializing, and enjoying the local flavors. Dozens of hotels now allow the greyhounds, and most of their rooms are booked a year in advance.

For area residents, the weekend offers an opportunity to meet some of these beautiful and gentle dogs. In fact, several curious visitors — having learned about the breed at Dewey Beach — have gone on to adopt greyhounds of their own.

Among the weekend’s activities are morning walks on the beach, educational seminars, an ice cream social, a blessing of the hounds, and a memorial service to remember greyhounds that have passed

A popular destination throughout the weekend is the Greyhounds in Art original art show. This year’s show will feature acrylic, sculpture, jewelry, and more. There will be a reception with the artists from 6:30 to 9 Saturday evening, and further details on the artwork and artists is available at www.greyhoundsinart.com. For more information visit Adoptagreyhound.org.
